The Love Course
A Carolina native, Davis Love III embraces a tradition of Lowcountry character in this latest design. The Love Course incorporates the recreated ruins of an old plantation along holes 3-7. Wide open fairways and generous landing areas set the stage for an unforgettable round of Myrtle Beach golf. The Love Course at Barefoot Resort incorporates Love, III's Carolina golfing experiences in the design. This visually striking course features generous landing areas and greens complexes similar to those found at the 1999 U.S. Open. The Par 72, 7,000 yard Love Course will challenge the good player, and still provide playability and enjoyment for the average player.
The Norman Course
Architect: Greg Norman
Seven holes along the Intracoastal Waterway highlight Greg Norman's design at Myrtle Beach's Barefoot Resort. Framed by the land's stunning scenery and pristine vegetation, each hole enhances the beauty of its natural vistas. Combined with open green complexes and fairways running up to the sand, the Norman course presents a formidable challenge for any golfer. Without artificial lines, the beautiful course has fairways and roughs that transition into the surrounding native areas. Bunkers have sloping white faces with intermittent sod wall bunkering at strategic spots throughout the course. The Par 72, 7,200 yard Norman Course was designed with Norman's philosophy to bring into play the "bump and run" shots around the greens, giving players the option to play a number of different shots. The greens are gently undulating and the hybrid turf on greens, fairways and tees create dramatic color and texture contrasts.
The Fazio Course
Located between the Dye Course and the Love Course, the Fazio Course plays through a spectacular landscape in the heart of Barefoot Resort. Filled with live oaks, pines, sand, natural areas and native grasses, this classic Lowcountry course has been strategically designed, incorporating extensive tree cover and lakes into the beautiful South Carolina landscape. Waste areas and formal bunkers have been handcrafted and placed for visual and strategic effect, while natural elevation changes add a sense of drama and excitement to the golfing round. Water features can be seen on 15 holes, yet many lakes in out-of-play areas ensure playability. The Par 71, 6,834 yards Fazio Course features four sets of tees to give players of all skill levels the opportunity to play a course of championship caliber and still have the right balance of fun and challenge. Like European courses, the course does not return to the clubhouse after nine holes.

The Dye Course
Welcome to the world of Pete Dye. A world full of railroad ties, bentgrass and mind-bending design. The Dye Club at Barefoot Resort and Golf is a prime example of the designer's signature work and use of native grasses. With GN-1 Bermuda grass on the fairways, Tifdwarf Bermuda grass on the approaches and L-93 Bentgrass on the greens, the par-72, 7,343-yard Dye Course is as visually stunning as it is challenging to play. The first hole is a narrow dog-leg left, bordered by waste areas to the left, and mounding to the right. This classic Dye opening test will immediately remind you that it's time to play.
There are several signature holes throughout the course, but No. 10 stands out in many golfers' minds. The hole measures only 315 yards from the men's tee, but tests every part of your game and nerves. The tee shot must be placed between water to the left and treacherous pot bunkers to the right. Once safely in the fairway, players are challenged to hold a wedge on the elevated narrow putting surface guarded on all sides by bunkers, both grass and sand.
As you make your way to the 18th tee, one final challenge remains. This beautifully carved dog-leg left hugs a pond which serves as protection for not only the fairway, but the green as well. An ample landing area from the tee narrows considerably as you approach the green complex. Mounding to the right and hazards to the left provide for a memorable closing sequence.
Pete Dye has made his mark all over the world, but only one course has been honored with the title of The Dye Club. Take full advantage of everything this course has to offer by enjoying a post-round beverage or fine dining in the Dye Clubhouse, which boasts magnificent views of holes 9, 10 and 18.
The Architect
In all walks of life there are those whose reputations precede them. Those who need only the mention of a name. Those whose work will live on long after their time has come and gone. Pete Dye is one of these men. In the world of golf, several names are immortal: Palmer, Nicklaus, Jones, Ross, Dye, Woods. These men changed the game forever, some for playing, some for designing and some for both.
No two courses are the same and this means that no two experiences are the same. Pete Dye has embraced this idea while still creating an unmistakable identity. From Myrtle Beach, S.C. to the Dominican Republic, Dye's work is alive and on display. Literally touching every corner of the globe, the Dye Design Group has produced courses in Germany, Indonesia, China, Japan, Portugal and nearly a dozen other countries. Additionally, the Dyes have made their enterprise into a family affair. Eight family members are actively involved in Dye Design, and Alice, Pete Dye's wife, even had a hand in creating his most famous par-3: No. 17, TPC at Sawgrass. Alice suggested Dye go with an island green design and against his better judgment, he agreed and the rest, as they say, is history.

The Fazio Course
When Tom Fazio sets out to design a course, he relies on his past works as guidance. Fazio has developed a stellar portfolio of more than 120 championship designs and has more “Top 100” courses than any other single designer. One of his finest works can be found at Barefoot Resort. The par-71, 6,834-yard Fazio Course is a shining example of what has made Tom Fazio's name a legend amongst golfers.
The Fazio Course traverses the natural sand dunes and Lowcountry forest which surrounds Barefoot Resort. Tee off on fairways of GN-1, a hybrid turf, which evolves into Tif-sport Bermuda grass on the approaches. Your round really gets going as you head into the fifth hole. Playing a stout 499 yards from the platinum tees, this par-4 is all you can handle. Tee shots must find the fairway to provide any chance of hitting this green in regulation. An uphill second shot awaits, and stealing a par here will no doubt be a good omen for your round.
The imagination of Tom Fazio takes center stage as you arrive to lucky number 13. A mid-size, par-4 measuring 361 yards from the black tees, this hole is often the source of tales of both glory and despair. The focal point of 13 is no doubt the green complexes. A well-positioned tee ball must be employed in order to properly attack the appropriate putting surface. On the left, your flag will be defended on all sides by sand, water and trees. Options for a right-hand flag are more promising, but beware of the severe sloping on each side of the green.
As with many of his “Top 100” designs, Fazio is fond of brawny par-4s to serve as closing holes. True to form, his 18th at Barefoot does not disappoint. A grand 471 yards stand between you and a closing par, but be wary of the hazards in between. To your left lies the stately clubhouse, bordered by a scenic duck pond, and natural pines and oaks to your right. A solid tee shot will leave players with a mid- to long-iron to an undulating putting surface.
From start to finish, the Fazio Course at Barefoot is much more than a signature design. Tom Fazio's heart and soul is stamped all over this award-winning layout.

The Architect
Tom Fazio was born and raised in a suburb of Philadelphia, Pa. where his uncle George Fazio ran a golf design firm. Fazio began his career at the family firm, but soon set out on his own. Since then, he has compiled one of the greatest golf course design portfolios of anyone in the history of the game.
A few of his most notable projects include: Shadow Creek in Las Vegas, Jupiter Hills in Florida, Barton Creek in Texas and recent renovations to the famed Augusta National. The mere fact that he was asked to perform work on the course that hosts the Masters Tournament is credibility few can claim. Until recently, Fazio was a purely domestic designer, creating courses in the United States only, but since his children are now adults, he has emerged on the international golf scene. With designs in both Europe and Japan, Fazio is beginning to spread his trademark designs around the globe.
Similar to his laid-back personality, Fazio does little promotion of himself or his work. The designer has no Web site, employs no marketing for his design firm and has an unlisted phone number in the mountains of western North Carolina. Fazio's son, Tommy, now has his own design company and is known for his unique work.

The Love Course
Davis Love, III has accomplished many things in his time in the golf industry. Most golf enthusiasts know him as a tournament champion, but recently Love has been getting noticed for his award-winning designs as well, and his talents are certainly on display at the Love Course at Barefoot Resort, a par-72 that encompasses more than 7,000 yards. Similar to the Fazio Course, Loves uses a mix of GN-1 on the fairways, Tif-sport Bermuda grass on the approaches and A-1 bentgrass on the course’s greens.
Love’s unique flair for tradition can be found first on No. 4, an intriguing par-4 measuring just 280 yards from the black tees. Despite playing uphill and being guarded by bunkers and water, this hole is drivable for many players. But be careful of balls that are hit too long, as there are Scottish castle ruins just beyond the green.
If you like a good dare, you will love the 13th. This short par-5 provides players all the risk/reward they can handle. A solid drive will leave you with eagle opportunities, but be cautious of the right side. A meandering stream guards that side of the green complex.
Love has always been known as a solid finisher on the course, and he continues that trend with his finishing hole at Barefoot Resort. At 596 yards from the platinum tee, this is no two-shot hole, but does provide plenty of drama. Your tee shot must be placed on the right-side of the fairway to avoid a waste area on the left. The lay-up shot must avoid water to the left and find a quickly narrowing fairway neck. Your final wedge of the day will be memorable, as narrow greens will yield few birdies, but it can happen.

Golf pedigree. That is term that comes to mind when you think of Davis Love, III. Born on the Monday following the 1964 Masters in Charlotte, N.C., Love was quickly acquainted with the game. His father shared the first-round lead in that very event and went on to play in all four majors. As we know, Love, III picked up right where his father left off, winning 20 career PGA events to date, including one major. His victory at Winged Foot in 1997 was one of the most memorable in PGA history.
Beyond the course, Love has recently begun a prolific golf course design career. His firm, Love Golf Design, is headquartered in St. Simons Island, Ga. and has produced several notable courses, including his exploits at Barefoot Resort. Love Golf Design specializes in both new designs and renovations. Along with his brother Mark and several golf design veterans, Love Golf Design has created a strong brand-name in the industry. Notable designs and renovations include: Kinderlou Forest and Laurel Island, both located in southern Georgia, and the University of Georgia Club.

The Norman Course
Who knew sharks could come inland? Well they certainly can and this shark has taken a bite out of the bluffs that border the Intracoastal Waterway at Barefoot Resort. With multiple holes along the scenic waterway, Greg Norman's par-72, 7,000-yard masterpiece is highlighted by the surrounding natural beauty, which frames a majority of his designs. With GN-1 on the tees and fairways, Tifdwarf grass on the approaches and A-1 bentgrass on the greens, the gently undulating terrain will remain as memorable as the course's most challenging holes.
You may be feeling pretty good about your round at the Norman Course until you reach No. 6, a strong par-4 measuring 448 yards from the platinum tees. A narrow fairway must be found in order to traverse a waste area which guards the green. There is no doubt this is the No. 1 handicap on this course.
Making the turn on the Norman Course, golfers are treated to one of the most picturesque scenes in Myrtle Beach. No. 10 is a healthy par-3 measuring 176 yards from the black tees, but the yardage will be the last thing on your mind. To the right lies the Intracoastal Waterway, along with four imposing bunkers that protect all other sides of the green. All we can say here is good luck and enjoy.
Similar to his colleagues' work at Barefoot, Norman does not disappoint on the final hole of his design. Another stellar par-5 serves as the dessert for this great layout. Strong players will have the opportunity to reach this hole in two, but a crowned green will hold only the best shots. Whether you attack it with a wood or a wedge, beware of the shark.

What a nickname. The Great White Shark. Few men could embrace and live up to such a moniker, but Greg Norman certainly has. Norman is the engineer of not only a stellar career on the course, but his success off the course may be even greater. From golf course design and wineries to apparel and turf sciences, Norman's enterprises stretch far and wide.
Norman spent 331 weeks as the world's No. 1 golfer and has compiled victories all over the globe, including two major victories. Today though, Norman plays in only a handful of golf events each year, but nearly pulled out an unlikely victory at the 2008 British Open. Norman's focus is geared on his many businesses, which also include course design. Similar to his exploits in his playing days, Norman's course portfolio is an international item. From South America to Africa, the Shark has taken a bite out the global golf market once again. His most notable designs include: Championsgate in Florida; Ellerston in Australia; The Medalist in Florida; and Mission Hills in China.
